ORLANDO, FL – October 1, 2022. The U.S. Air Force awarded STS Federal, LLC (STS) a 5-year contract to support eleven Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATD) that replicates the instrumentation of a light, twin turboprop aircraft with a glass cockpit system at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Lackland, Texas.
Since WWII, the Inter-American Air Forces Academy (IAAFA) has been training pilots and aviation maintenance personnel from the Latin American region. Today, IAAFA’s 318th Training Squadron conducts this training from a state-of-the-art hangar complex. 3-month courses are taught throughout the year using a variety of Advanced Aviation Training Devices resulting in students in session for 42 weeks per year.
STS provides total flight simulator maintenance to the AATDs, including preventive maintenance, inspections, servicing, replacement of parts, troubleshooting, repair, bench check, reassembly, testing, calibration, and operational checks of corrected malfunctions to verify the proper serviceable condition of systems, subsystems, and components. STS maintains the host computer systems and hardware upgrades. STS employs approved quality control, operation, maintenance, and inspection methods. STS on-site accomplishes software and hardware maintenance support of the training devices and is responsible for material and parts purchases.
